There were two persons named Johannes Peter WEITNAUR who were first cousins. I don't know which was my direct ancestor. It was either 1) the Johannes Peter WEITNAUR who was the son of Johannes Peter WEITNAUR, Senior [baptised 1640 at Basel Switzerland and Elizabeth SCHERER called Philipert[baptized 1644 at Basel], or 2) the son of Johannes Friedrich WEITNAUR [baptized 1647] and Ursula HEINRICH-PETRI [baptized 1650 at Basel]. Johannes Peter Weitnaur was the grandson of Johannes Adelberg Weitnaur [not "Adelbert"; baptized 1611 at Basel] and Anna Maria STORCH [she was not born at Basel]. The family is found in Pennsylvania by August of 1725 when Heinrich SCHNEIDER made his will in Roxborough Township, Philadelphia County, Pennsylvania. Johannes Peter Weitnaur died in the winter of 1733 in Oley Township, Berks County, Pennsylvania. His widow, Catherine (Schneider) Weitnaur died in 1742 at the Ephrata Cloister, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. The Ephrata Cloister was a Brethren Cloister, but the family did not become Brethren until after the death of Peter Weitnaur, as they were living in Oley Township, Berks County, Pennsylvania.

The children of Peter and Catherine (Schneider) Weitnaur were: Heinrich born 1717 in Germany or Switzerland, died 1792 Lincoln County, North Carolina; Barbara born 1708-1718 in Switzerland or Germany; Johannes Peter born circa 1719; Triffiana; Jacob and Isaac. I can not locate that family after the move into Germany. I would be grateful for any help.
