Cette famille fait son apparition dans le district du Seeland dans la première moitié du XIVème siècle et à Chiètres dès 1396.

- Fritz Schwab, de Chiètres, syndic de Galmiz de 1886 à 1895. Juge de paix de Morat de 1893 à 1912. Premier administrateur agricole de la colonie de Bellechasse de 1898 à 1912.

- Mariage de Jean Suabe (Schwab), soldat natif de Chiètres, et de Françoise Prévost, célébré à Honfleur le 4 juin 1737.

I am interested in finding information concerning Samuel SCHWAB, born about 30 October 1796 Switzerland; died 30 April 1873 at Findlay, Hancock County, Ohio, USA. There is a possibility that he was raised Lutheran. Samuel married Elizabeth ? , born in Switzerland; died 30 November 1884 at Findlay, Hancock county, Ohio, USA. It is possible that he immigrated to America around 1850-1851 (not known for sure), and settled at Findlay, Hancock county, Ohio, USA. There were seven sons born to Samuel and his wife Elizabeth. Theeir children were: Adolf SCHWAB, born about 1825 at Basil, Canton Bern, Switzerland; died in Switzerland and is buried there. It is not known whether he married or not; Samuel SCHWAB, Jr., born 1827 at Basil, Canton Bern, Switzerland. Samuel, Jr. married Elizabeth ZELLER, possible marriage date between 1846-1849, possibly at Basil, Canton Bern, Switzerland. She was born in Switzerland and died in 1888 at Findlay, Hancock county, Ohio, USA. There were 7 children born to this union all of them were possibly born in Switzerland. It is possible that he did not immigrate to America until around 1864. Abraham SCHWAB born 1831 probably at Basil, Canton Bern, Switzerland; died 1911 at Findlay, Hancock county, Ohio. He married Mary M. ?, unknown date, place unknown. Mary M. was born 10 April 1836 possibly in France; died 27 February 1910 at Findlay, Hancock county, Ohio There were 8 children born to this union, all in Ohio. I have a date on their fourth child: Louise Whilelmina SCHWAB, born 6 October 1854 at Basil, Canton Bern, Switzerland. Abraham was confirmed German Lutheran.

Gottlieb SCHWAB born October 1832 at Basil, Canton Bern, Switzerland; died 26 August 1905 at Findlay, Hancock county, Ohio. He married Phoebe FETZER in 1878, at Findlay, Hancock county, Ohio. She was born in 1838, place unknown and died 24 October 1909 at Findlay, Hancock county, Ohio. There were 6 children born to this union. Alexander SCHWAB (my great-great-grandfather), born 1 January 1837 at Basil, Canton Bern, Switzerland, died 14 January 1913 at Greenfield, Adair county, Iowa. He married Helen Maria STUBBS 19 March 1859 in Twin Grove Township, Lee county, Iowa. Helen was born in 1842 in the state of Maine; died 30 January 1930 in Greenfield, Adair county, Iowa. There were seven children born to this union. John Frederick SCHWAB, born 12 June 1839 at Basil, Canton Bern, Switzerland; died 15 April 1859 at Findlay, Hancock county, Ohio. He never married. Jacob SCHWAB, born 1841 at Basil, Canton Bern, Switzerland, died 1909 at North Baltimore, Wood county, Ohio. He married Fannie BRODT in 1871 at Findlay, Hancock county, Ohio. Fannie was born 30 November 1848 and died 2 July 1933 at North Baltimore, Wood county, Ohio. There were four children born to this union. Any information will be greatly appreciated.
