Cette famille fait son apparition dans le district du Seeland dans la première moitié du XIVème siècle et à Chiètres dès 1396.
Personnalités:
- Fritz Schwab, de Chiètres, syndic de Galmiz de 1886 à 1895. Juge de paix de Morat de 1893 à 1912. Premier administrateur agricole de la colonie de Bellechasse de 1898 à 1912.

There is a possibility that he was raised Lutheran. Samuel married Elizabeth ? , born in Switzerland; died 30 November 1884 at Findlay, Hancock county, Ohio, USA. It is possible that he immigrated to America around 1850-1851 (not known for sure), and settled at Findlay, Hancock county, Ohio, USA. There were seven sons born to Samuel and his wife Elizabeth. Theeir children were: Adolf SCHWAB, born about 1825 at Basil, Canton Bern, Switzerland; died in Switzerland and is buried there. It is not known whether he married or not; Samuel SCHWAB, Jr., born 1827 at Basil, Canton Bern, Switzerland. Samuel, Jr. married Elizabeth ZELLER, possible marriage date between 1846-1849, possibly at Basil, Canton Bern, Switzerland. She was born in Switzerland and died in 1888 at Findlay, Hancock county, Ohio, USA. There were 7 children born to this union all of them were possibly born in Switzerland. It is possible that he did not immigrate to America until around 1864. Abraham SCHWAB born 1831 probably at Basil, Canton Bern, Switzerland; died 1911 at Findlay, Hancock county, Ohio. She was born in 1838, place unknown and died 24 October 1909 at Findlay, Hancock county, Ohio. There were 6 children born to this union.
