I am searching for origin of a Hans HISLY (we
believe it is HEISE) who arrived on the ship
"Adventurer" on 2 October 1727 at
Philadelphia from Rotterdam, Holland. He settled
near Lebanon, Pennsylvania where numerous sons
are recorded on tax lists. He is believed to have
been a member of the Anabaptist / Mennonite faith
in Germany or Switzerland. There is no record of
his wife however it is believed he was born about
1700, was taxed in Lebanon Township in 1750 and
1759 and was granted a land warrant in Lebanon
Township in 1750. It is also believed our
progenators spelled the name HEISE and came from
Switzerland originally perhaps fleeing religious
persecution into Germany or Alsace. His sons were
John and probably Martin, Michael, Daniel, Peter,
and Christian. We do know that we are descended
from the one son John born 1728 who married
Barbara YORDY. I am very greatful for your offer
to post it.
